September 20, 2021 Blue Notes

Dear Zion Parents:

Attached are this week’s Blue Notes, several attachments including Comfort Dog 5K Run, PTL Pie Order, Fall at the Faire info,  Park District Flag Football and E-Sports flyers and several email reminders for your review.

COVID-19 PARENTAL SUPPORT- We are very proud of how well our students continue to follow our COVID guidelines.  We sincerely appreciate the parents who have worked with us during these challenging times.  It is only through everyone’s cooperation and support that we have been able to have face to face school and have not had any outbreaks of the virus at school.    We have had some issues this year with some parents who are not complying with the COVID guidelines and expectations.  These guidelines are a result of the governor’s executive order which carries the weight of law that mandates specific mitigation measures at schools.   For clarification purposes the mandate requires the following: masks (not mesh) are worn covering the mouth and nose, social distancing and the vaccination of all school staff or weekly testing of staff who have not been vaccinated.   The masking and social distancing guidelines apply to parents or visitors who are at school or school events including meetings, conferences, athletic events, Wednesday Chapels, the school office and inside the school while visiting, volunteering or conducting school business.   We take our responsibility to protect our students and staff very seriously especially since several of our staff have medically compromised immediate family members.   We pray that ALL parents will cooperate by following the guidelines and support us in our efforts to have a safe school environment.    Failure to follow the guidelines and expectations may result in those not complying needing to leave the school or school event.

KIDS HEART CHALLENGE–  We have had our kickoff for the Kids Heart Challenge which will be held on October 5th with October 7th as a rain date.  Please encourage your child to get pledges towards our goal of $5,000 for this very worthy cause.  Parents are encouraged to download the Heart Challenge app on your phone and create an account for your child and have them do Finn’s Challenge both of which will make them eligible for special prizes.  There are opportunities for individual, class and school wide prizes.

LITTLE PANTHERS RUN–  Mrs. Boysen’s 1st grade class can run TODAY- Monday, Sept. 20th.

SETTLERS DAY FUN RUN FOR SAMSON THE COMFORT DOG-  5 K Fun Run Fundraiser on Saturday, October 9th at 8:30 a.m.  See the flyer attached to the Blue Notes for more information.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS NEEDED:  If you are interested in serving as a substitute teacher please contact us at office@zionschool.net.  Preference is given to individuals with a teaching certificate or college degree but it is not required.   Individuals should just be patient, work well with kids and be able to follow specific plans left by the teacher.  Compensation is $100/day.
